ACCREDITATION

NAEYC, National Association for the Education of Young Children, started its program accreditation system in the early 1980’s to help families find the best care for their young children and to provide the early childhood education field with a credible means by which to identify and meet standards of excellence.

UCUC Preschool first attained accreditation in 1996. The preschool has maintained continuous accreditation since 1996. At this time, our preschool is the only one in the 92122 area with accreditation.

In the mid 2000’s, accreditation standards were updated to enhance the quality of the education and well-being of children. NAEYC developed 10 standards that are required for accreditation. These standards are: relationships, curriculum, teaching (relating to instructional approach), families, community relationships, physical environment and leader- ship and management.
