OUR STAFF

The UCUC Preschool Director has a BS degree in Psychology and a MS degree in Child and Family Development. All of the Staff members are professionals with sound education in Child Development and are CPR & First Aid qualified. They remain current in all areas of child development by attending workshops and conferences, as well as maintaining membership in NAEYC and SDAEYC. (mouse over individual staff photos to enlarge)

Jessica Dolan

Director

As an early childhood educator, I have a deep commitment to the field and implementation of best practices. I strongly believe in creating a community in which children and adults experience a connection and children are free to explore and thrive. It is my mission to instill a love for learning in all children. I am grateful to be a part of the UCUC Preschool community. Thank you for sharing your child with us and creating this partnership with us.

Education:
M.S. in Child and Family Development at San Diego State University
B.A. in Psychology at San Diego State University

Early Childhood Social Emotional Behavioral Regulation and Intervention
Specialist

Experience:
3 years of experience working in preschool administration and teacher
mentoring. 10 years’ experience working in the field of early childhood education. Previous lead teaching experience with infants, toddlers, and preschool age
children.

Hobbies/Interest/Enjoys:
I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, gardening, reading, cooking, and doing yoga and pilates. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with all of the children, families, and staff at UCUC Preschool and look forward to a great year together!


Kendra Brownsberger

CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing Site Supervisor Permit

Experience:
6 years of co-teaching children, ages 3-5 years in a Reggio Inspired Preschool Program
6 years as an instructor for Toddler’s Tango /Babies Boogie Movement and Music Class
5 years teaching high school mathematics

Interests/Hobbies/Enjoys:
Kendra and her husband Rich are the proud parents to a son, Kaden and a daughter, Kaci. Kendra enjoys taking classes, reading, singing, music, dance, art, crocheting and baking. She is very excited to join UCUC and is looking forward to meeting the families and children in our program.

Deborah Muhlbauer

B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru
Licensure in Early Childhood Education from Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru
Master of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies from State University of New York (Buffalo)
 
Experience:
4 years in nursery schools in Peru working with toddlers and preschool kids
10 years of Preschool teaching at the International School of Lima - Peru
2 years as a Pre-k teacher in a Montessori preschool in Iowa City.
 
Interest/ Hobbies/ Enjoys:
I love traveling to exciting places with my husband, reading, listening to podcasts, dancing, jigsaw puzzles and Scrapbooking

My husband and I just moved to California, so we enjoy exploring beaches and restaurants during the weekends.


Pam Gallo

Class: Assistant Teacher for Little Explorers

Education:
B.A. in Theater from University of California at San Diego
17 Units in Early Childhood Education

California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) Certification
Working towards Associate Teacher Permit from the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing
 
Experience:
18 years of experience working with preschool and elementary school age children.
3 years’ experience as a preschool program specialist at a STEAM based program.

Tahnee Ruthenberg

Working on her Associates in Child Development & Psychology
 
Experience:
Preschool internships with children ages 4-5 years old
4 years working with elementary school age children at an afterschool program
 
Interest/ Hobbies/ Enjoys:
I love to travel and experience new cultures and food. I love soccer, cooking, baking, reading, Star Wars, Marvel and spending with my family and friends.


Catherine Makeh Vandian

Experience:
3 years of experience with children ages varying from 18 months to 5 years of age working at an
Outdoor Classroom Demonstration Site.
2 years as a lead teacher for children ages 3-5

Interests/Hobbies/Enjoys:
I love to see each child’s growth as an individual and make them happy. I grew up in Paris, and moved to San Diego 3 years ago. I came by myself to live my dream and become a French and ESL (English second language) professor in College or University. I’m thrilled to start my Bachelor this fall in SDSU and pursue with my Master and then Ph.D. I will explore a lot of art activities and learning new languages with the children since I speak 4 languages (French, English, Spanish and Farsi). Currently, I live in Carlsbad. I enjoy traveling, watching movies, going to the gym and spending time facetiming my parents.

Carol Frasier

Class: Teacher for Little Unicorns

Education:
A.A. in Child Development from Mesa College
B.A. in Elementary Education with emphasis on Special Education
Has earned additional units in Early Childhood Education from various universities and extensions as well as Montessori Training Centers

Experience:
Over 30 years in the Early Childhood Development field
Has worked at UCUC Preschool since 1992

Interests/Hobbies/Enjoys:
Traveling, reading, swimming and scrap booking


Trisha Goolsby

Class:  Lead Teacher for Little Clouds

Education:
BS in Interdisciplinary Studies
MS in Education
Concentration in Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education

Virginia Licensees in Early Childhood Special Education (birth to 5 years old) Early/Primary Education (PreK through 3rd Grade) Working towards transferring to Master Teacher Permit issued from the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing

Experience:
4 years Lead Teacher of Early Childhood (infants, 2 years old, 3 years old)
3 years volunteering at Bonnie Brae Elementary school in Head Start
 
Interest/ Hobbies/ Enjoys:
Just moved to San Diego from the DC area about a year ago. I've loved taking advantage of exploring the outdoors with this all year round beautiful weather. I especially love to hike, relax at the beach, and bike around town. I'm an avid cookie baker, but I rarely eat them. Also on my down time, I enjoy health and fitness, reading, listening to music, playing sports, and spending time with friends/family. I'm thrilled to join the UCUC Preschool community. Who's ready for a fun-filled learning year?


Berenice Resendiz

Education:
Associate of Arts with an Area of Emphasis in Social and Behavior Science - Mira Costa College

Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development - California State University San Marcos (In Process)
 
Experience:
Three years of experience working with children 18 months and up to 5 years old in the child development center.

Worked for Mira Costa College summer program College for Kids for the past three summers.  

Interest/ Hobbies/ Enjoys:
I enjoy the outdoors such as hiking, camping, swimming, traveling and going to the beach. During my free time, I love to bake and watch movie marathons such as Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Marvel to name a few.


Tulio Castillo

Class:  Outdoor Teacher

Education:
AA - Child Development Teacher
MiraCosta College (In Process)

Experience:
Two years of experience with children ages varying from 18 months to 5 years of age working at an Outdoor Classroom Demonstration Site

One year of Behavioral Therapy for children with Autism ages 2 to 7 years of age

Interest/ Hobbies/ Enjoys:
I enjoy traveling and being outdoors. I like to go on hikes, camping trips, kayaking, or just being at the beach. I also really love to spend time with all my nephews.
